About
The Child Welfare Services Branch of the Department of Human Services provides essential protection and support for children at risk of abuse or neglect throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Their primary mission is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children within their own homes whenever possible through prevention and family support services. When a child cannot safely remain with their family, the branch coordinates foster care, adoption, or legal guardianship to establish a stable and permanent living situation. With offices located across Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi, they also manage the licensing of resource caregivers and group homes to maintain a high standard of care.
