About

Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition (KIPC) is a statewide, community-based organization established by the Hawaiʻi Department of Health to address the leading cause of death and disability for children in the islands: preventable injury. Since 1991, this broad coalition of over 150 organizations and agencies has worked to identify high-risk areas—specifically traffic safety, which remains the top threat to Hawaiʻi’s youth. KIPC provides vital, hands-on resources like free child safety seat inspections and statewide educational workshops to ensure parents and caregivers have the tools they need to protect their keiki. By bridging the gap between state policy and community action, the coalition fosters a culture of safety that addresses everything from car seat installation to water and fire safety awareness.
