About

YWCA O‘ahu has provided a sanctuary of safety and hope for women, specifically through its historic Fernhurst facility in Makiki. Their primary mission focuses on Ka Hale Ho‘āla Hou No Nā Wāhine, a gender-responsive and trauma-informed furlough program designed to help women successfully transition from prison back into the community. Utilizing a unique "Circle Expansion" model, the program empowers residents to build resiliency, manage emotions, and secure employment to significantly reduce recidivism. Beyond transitional housing, the YWCA offers integrated professional development and wellness services at their Laniākea location to ensure long-term economic advancement and personal stability.
