Managing Stress During and After a Storm

April is Stress Awareness Month, and here in Hawai’i, we are navigating the recent impact of seasonal storms, like the latest Kona low. While these impactful weather events can bring physical disruptions to the Aina, they can also significantly impact our emotional well-being. It is important to recognize that feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed during a storm is a normal response. The feeling of uncertainty, changes within our normal routine, and concerns about safety can create emotional strain. In addition, caring for family members during moments like this can lead to feelings of uncertainty, interpersonal distress, and overall feelings of fear.
